Summer is here and that means, we are spending more time in the car so I’ll walk you through my 10 essentials to pack for any roadtrip. One side note – This list is for anyone on their wellness journey and not letting a roadtrip get in the way of that – and this first item should come as no surprise….
Yeti, Stanley or Starbucks Tumbler

Which brand do you go hard for? Honestly, I have all three brands, but I have the most Starbucks tumblers. Don’t ask how many.. just know it’s a slight obsession of mine and I’m well aware of it. This should go without saying, but if you are heading on a roadtrip, you gotta hydrate. I always make a pit stop to Starbucks on the way out of town and I get a Venti Green Iced Tea for the road. I get a Green Iced Tea because of the next two items…
Collagen Packet

Any time I get an iced drink, I add a packet of collagen peptides to it. One packet of collagen offers 10GB Protein, so it turns your iced tea (or whatever drink) into a nice little protein snack. Keeps you hydrated and full. Collagen is also flavorless, so it mixes well with anything. The travel to-go packets are perfect for throwing into a backpack, handbag or in your car.
Detox Water Drops

These detox water drops from Sakara are ideal to mix with green tea, an energy drink or flavored sparkling water. Chlorophyll drops have a bit of a grassy, mineral taste on their own, but mixed with something else, you really wouldn’t taste it. Chlorophyll has numerous health benefits, such as supporting your skin health and may help improve energy levels, which you’ll need for a roadtrip. These are also handy to just liven up plain water.
Portable Fan with Flashlight & Charger

If you’re not sitting shotgun in the driver or passenger seat, you may want an extra portable fan for the backseat. This one features a built-in portable charger if your iPhone or Smartphone gets low on battery life, and it has a flashlight in case something drops under your seat. It folds into itself so it’s really portable. Especially in the warmer months, this fan goes with me everywhere.
Lip Mask or Lip Balm

My personal favorite is the Laneige Lip Glowy Balm – comes in a variety of scents. Most people are familiar with the Lip Sleeping Mask, which is amazing, but for the car and roadtrips, I prefer the tube style.
Hand / Body Lotion

Anytime I seem to want hand lotion, I never have it on me. And it almost always happens to be, when I’m in the car. So I’ve decided to stock up on travel size lotions anytime I can. I use so many different brands and formulas but I love the Malin + Goetz Vitamin Hand lotion because it’s really moisturizing and lasts a long time.
Barefoot Dreams Socks

If you’re in for a long roadtrip (or flight) – I like to wear the comfy socks as I can. The barefoot dreams ones are just unmatched. They are so incredibly soft, comforting and just feel great!
Unsalted Trail Mix
It’s so easy to stock the car with junk food and treats when you have a long drive ahead of you, but if you’re trying to keep it light, I opt for an unsalted trail mix of some kind. I buy the small individual packs from Trader Joe’s but every gas station and convenience store has some version of them too. Just make sure it’s unsalted and has as few ingredients as possible. You could also make your own at home and take with you in plastic baggies.
Jerky Strips or Package
Again, you could buy these anywhere. I like Chomps, because they have a few different flavors, you can buy them in a lot of places and each one gives you 7-10GB protein. That’s just enough to hold you over until your destination or pit stop.
Go for a Walk

My last essential before a roadtrip is a walk around the block, or even at the gym. Get your body moving for 30-40 minutes before your roadtrip and get as much time “standing” as you can. Give yourself a step goal that morning before your road trip, and try to hit it before you hit the road. I try to do the same thing once I get to my destination too. Move the body, get some steps in!
